Use Jira Filter/Query for import from Jira project
USe Jira Filter/Query for import from Jira project
When integrating my Board, I can select which project to use for import.
I can also select in the configuration which issue type I am interested in (Epics, User Stories, Tasks...).
However I have a backlog that contains hundreds of stories that won't be worked on my current release.
Other Jira plugins for "story mapping" are using Jira Queries and not projects to sync the story map items.
It would be nice if I could, for each of my board, decide on a custom filter to import and manage jira item import.
It does require a lot of thinking, for example if I create an item in storiesonboard, how do I make sure that pushing in Jira the item will have the necessary attributes to fit in that query?
I do not know if a Jira Query is the right choice, as it creates a lot of configuration nightmare. But perhaps something with little flexibility but controlable.
For example you can first select project, then have the list of fields of that project and ask what would be the filter. And every new card pushed to jira would automatically have those fields populated with the filter fields.
I will let you come up with the solution ;) For me the requirement is to be able to have different boards mapped to same project but with different filters.
This feature is already done, please take a look at the article about Advanced Jira integration:

I would love this, too, as my project/product is split between 3 JIRA projects (-teams). This would make it possible for me to use StoriesOnBoard (and I love it!).
Importing seems to be fair easy for me: just create cards for all read JIRA items and done. Just as it is now.
The major remaining problem is in my opinion, in which JIRA project new items should be created. I suggest an configuration option, where you select tha JIRA project and the issue type ("User Story").
